I have a Kissing Crane knife I picked up at a little shop, its a copperhead and Carbon steel? Any info on these knives? I have seen some on the web go for low and medium prices. Its taken a great edge and I really like the little guy. Any good or bad experiences with them? Thanks.

PS: It has a brass round emblem isntead of all the other ones I see online which look like shields, not sure if that dates it or anything. I just know the emblem looks different. It says soligen on the small blade blade, Rob(little t) Klaas soilngen and 28(other side) on the large one . The box says Kissing Cranes and says Solingen, which I read somewhere means its an older one?

Sounds like you found a nice deal.

I recently picked up several of the Kissing Crane knives. The current manufacture is in Italy. I bought 5 of the 4" coal miner knives for about $30 plus shipping. I also bought the smaller Black angus knife. I was able to sharpen the BA to a nice edge. I believe they are stamped Rostfrie (stainless). I also have a Stiletto that I bought a few years back.

For the low price, the sodbuster patterns I mentioned are reasonable. I plan to give them to the boys that are building black powder kentucky rifles for scraping caps of and just to have an old slipjoint on hand. I thought about holding them back until this summer's camping trip to do a knife sharpening class with them, but we'll see.

The company Robt Klaas = Robert Klaas produces knives with several brand names.
One of them is Kissing Cranes that`s mostly used for export.
As I`m aware they still produce their knives in Solingen.
Of course it can be possible that some of their cheaper knives are made in Italy but I don`t know for sure. :D

A while back I was lucky to get hold of a batch of some old Klaas knives made in the 1950`s. (~ 400 - 500 knives)
Some of their knives were unmarked and I was told that one of the reasons was they were made for other companies as well.

Here are the different models I got. (No, there are no more for sale!)
