I have been noticing some too cheap folders lately with the Kissing Krane name.Have they joined the parade of made in China knives now.I saw them in SMKW catalog and also over in that bay place.Neither seller hinted of place of manufacture, but both boasted of German quality.Packaging looks about the same.Shields a little different. This is pretty sad if true because i've owned a lot of quality made K.K. knives in the past. Also sellers should make it clear where the stuff is made.

Thats my feeling also but you'll find many on here that disagree and go into frantic, knee-jerk, exaggerated defensive modes.

If you don't mind having it manufactured there, you shouldn't mind clearly letting your customers know where you had it made before they buy it. That includes the retailers too.

Absolutely correct.

Some manufacturers and dealers are up front about the information, quite a few are not exactly forthcoming. The most typical knee jerk reaction is for one of us knife nuts to make some bold or even absolute statement about not buying Chinese made products. And to then get defensive when called on it.

With that in mind, it isn't too surprising that some companies may be reluctant to divulge too much information about their wares.

If you don't want to buy Chinese products, I say great. If you do, it's your choice. But, if you don't want to buy a Chinese knife, there is nothing worse than ordering, waiting, opening the package and seeing "China" on the knife. Heck, if you expected the knife to say USA and it says "Germany" you would be disappointed. Sure, you can go the trouble of sending it back, etc, but simply putting where the knife was made on the description would be the easy thing to do. It's just as easy as putting in the blade length or steel type.

Kissing Crane does market some knives made in China.

I have no problem if I knowingly buy a knife imported from China, but it is a disappointment when it's a brand you're familiar with as being made somewhere else.

Yes,this is the problem.I thought i saw a great deal on German made knives and only the cheap price told me it was China.I consider that a scam marketing tactic.

Kissing Crane = China. Kissing Cranes = Solingen. Confusingly, both are sometimes mislabled by sellers. Kissing Crane (China) have Kissing Crane marked on the tang. Kissing Cranes have R Klass Solingen and pictures of cranes on the tang. I hope this helps.

Just because a knife is stamped Germany does not make a true German knife.German import laws are different than U.S.

OK,That's interesting and probably accurate.I was way off ,i thought it was Kissing Krane. The 3/4 page ad i'm looking at says NEW!! Kissing Crane Red Bone Pocketknives. The most expensive one is a large congress for 16.99.It does have a 2 crane round logo that says Kissing Crane Since 1834 on the page. But nothing about where they are made. The 1/4 of the page above is selling a whole set of 6 K.C. slippies for 99.99 and throwing in a 12 pocket pouch. They are both 440 stainless steel, which doesn't sound right for Germany, but no other hint i can find except they are cheap. They look nice, but i'm passing.I've got enough China made users that will never be worth anything laying around here.

I bought a few KissinG Krane Sod Busters from SMKW and they were marked Italy on the back. The Italians have made the KK stilettos for years now....
