Kissing Krane knives

Yup. Don't know about the newer ones, but the older are great quality.

This one is from the 1950s

They "were" and I have had several, but unfortunatly they dont appear to be made there now.

are you sitting down? apparently the current crop are made in either china or italy. I picked up one while on vacation and was very impressed with fit and finish, plus it was scary sharp. i was somewhat disappointed to learn of their place of manufacture. but as one poster said if you like the knife don't worry about where it was made just enjoy it. well it's still in my box but it hasn't been carried yet, i'm taking this in stages.

I came over here to ask the same question. So I went searching.

275251 Lockback, wooden handles, Germany
715 Stag fixed blade, Germany
2051 Bowtie Lockback, stag handles, Germany
152 (which is exactly like a 152OT), USA
The Taylor version is China and the Outdoor Edge version is USA.
The Outdoor Edge and Kissing Crane look identical, so I assume the same
manufacturer.

Most others I found info on are either China or Italy.
All of their slippies are China and the Stilettos and Sodbuster look-a-likes are Italy.

Anyone ever find any other USA or German made KC's?

Kissing Crane knives are currenly made in China. Kissing Cranes knives were made in Solingen. Kissing Cranes were not actually stamped as such but were stamped with the two birds and R Klass see Ice Tigre. Kissing Crane knives have the name on the tang. German-made kissing cranes are still available. Recently made German Cranes knives have an all silver round shield. The Chinese Crane knives have the 'federal' type shield with the birds in red. The boxes, if original, also show Cranes vs Crane. I hope this helps.

I have a chinese kissing crane canoe. It is one of my nicest slipjoints. F&F is equal to my case and queen knives. If mine is a true example of chinese production they seem to be holding their chinese knives to the standards of their german knives. But this is only one knife. anybody else like their chinese kissing crane knives?
BTW chinese knives don't have china marked on them. mine came with a sticker on the blade. german knives I think have germany stamped on the blade. no germany = chinese I think.
you have got to realize kissing crane is a german company and germany has no country of origin laws.

IMHO, craftsmanship has no borders or nationality, you like it buy it.
