Kit Carson custom knife! Which model and steel might it be? (pics inside)

Hi there,

I got a Kit Carson fixed knife from a friend. He served with Kit in the army.

Now I want to know, what I have in my hands.
I would like to guess the value of the knife and some specifics.
The only marking is on the sheath: carson







Can someone help me with my confusion?

I would venture to guess that the knife was made in the early '80's and the steel more than likely 440C....could be ATS34. I'm not real familiar with Kit's early fixed blades but have a Bowie and it's 440C.
