A month or so ago Kit asked me if I would like to test a knife from him in S30V. Ofcourse I jumped at the chance. When he showed me a pic of the knife I would be using I was blown away. I'd never seen anything like it from him. Course I later found out that Kit makes a bunch of stuff nobody really see's. Anything from spec op knives to full blown art daggers. The SD-1 is apx 8" long with a blade that measures apx 3 3/4" from tip to plunge. Black linen micarta are used for the scales. The SD-1 feels great in the hand and work well for multiple grip styles. After I got through putting through its paces, you might see some scratches on the blade, they are from me. The knife arrived with Kit's excellent ceramic bead blast finish. Unfortunately Kit is'nt taking orders at the moment or I would order another one to match this one(and no this one wasnt free). Its a great knife.

Edited to add a link to the thread of the results of DB and my impressions of s30v. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=184091

Nah... that isn't a Carson! It is a United Cutlery painted dull grey. :):):):):)

Seriously, that is a kick butt knife. I have never seen anything like that from Kit. I like the slight recurve (easier to sharpen in the field) and the blade length looks great for so many knife chores that must be done. I like how the handle offers multiple grips, as you stated in your review.

If this is just one of the cool, secret knives Kit makes, I wonder what else he has hidden away? Or, other makers as well...

I'm off to make some secret knives now :)

It is so true, that some of the best knives Kit and many others make never get seen by anyone except the maker and the receiving end!:(

Thanks! Great looking knife!
