Wish someone would have told me about it.

Seriously, since the subject came up, I need your thoughts on what needs to be covered. What are your questions and concerns. At the present time what I have prepared will last about 2 minutes.

I sure hope Pat is getting more prepared for it than I am. :O

Explore how custom collaborations benefit both the knife maker, knife manufacturer, and knife consumer. CC's are a win-win situation for all those involved: 1) Knife maker gets wider name recognition and "possible customers" and 2) Knife manufacturer benefits from the expertise and experience of the maker by having him suggest new methods, etc. New materials - back a few years ago, materials like ATS-34, titanium, carbon fiber, G-10 - and lately CPM 440V and Talonite - were all strictly used in custom knifemaking. Thanks to custom collaborations through the years, these materials have been infused into the marketplace for all to benefit from.

Hope this gives you some ideas to consider!

Bobby, it starts at 1030 on Sunday. I was given several dates/times and figured the show is normally slow during that time.

Dex, thanks. Now I can go for 15 minutes.

Anybody else got any suggestions?

Kit, how about something along the lines on how to make sure the collaborating manufacturer will make the knife reasonablly to your specs and quality. Also maybe touch on that not all collaborations may be good. And be sure to give makers a good plug for all the R&D we do that they benifit from!

Thanks Kit. My Knife Throwing seminar is 10:00.I hope that I can finish in time to make your seminar. On Sat I always have standing room only at my seminar. Sunday is always slower.

Kit,

Every bit of my awareness of custom makers came from colaborations with manufacturers. I saw a knife that I liked from Buck or Benchmade, then checked out the name of the custom maker associated with that knife to find out what they made. Sure most of what I own is production, cause I'm poor. But now that I'm aware of you all out there, my wish list is all custom.

I'm sure some collaborations may end up with manufacturers and custom makers having differences and going their separate ways. But even so, the blades go out with the designer's name on it. Like Benchmade and Emerson's CQC's. I don't think they work together any more, so if you want an Emerson, you go to Emerson. That had to help, even if there was some bad blood.

By the way, thanks for the great info on the Intrepid. I had one last question you can check out on the thread if you want ("A little help")

Thanks again and good luck with the presentation.
