I just finished up this folder. It is a KnifeKits.com GX6. Not a full blown custom made piece, but plenty of custom work done in finishing it up. I chose to make eggerling damascus bolsters, and use MOP scales on this one. I mirror polished the blade, heat colored the thumbstuds to a yellow/gold to match the gold screws I used. What do you think?
This is the second kit knife I have attempted. The first one went horribly wrong as I tried to get all the screw holes to line up and countersunk using a hand drill
, wasn't happening. I think this came out ok. Not really my style, as I lean more towards tactical users. But I had this idea kicking around in my head for a few months, and some time off from school.
I am planning to start grinding, or try to anyway
, some of my own blades soon. Starting with fixed blades as that is the easiest thing to learn with. I do however have an idea of making my own button like folder, possibly an auto. Thinking of using aluminum handles and all, but without a mill it will be a tricky project.
