I have seen some of the best survival kits come out of the RAT Cutlery subforum. I dont know exactly what it is, but this forum really puts out some awesome kits:thumbup:.

That is why I humbly ask you, the kit masters,

What are some good online resources for searching out kit gear (for variety and/or value)?

thank you

Also don't overlook the RAT survival kits on their web page. Many items inside my tin came from the Basic survival kit. All the items are first rate.

Those are some of my faves....

I have over 100 bucks worth of awesome gear in a cart right now and I am only 1/8th of the way through the site.

How is the shipping for bepreparedtosurvive.com? They say that they weigh it out after you pay, and then total your shipping.

thanks again guys.

CountyComm is one.

Survival Shop has the same stuff from CountyComm: http://www.endtimesreport.com/survival_shop.html

Someone suggested this site for its flip card guides: http://www.northwoodsguides.com/

This is where I built three starter-kits with these key rings: http://www.alexandersoutdoors.com/servlet/the-Survival-Key-Rings/Categories

I went here for some mini-led lights, paracord for wrist lanyards, and these glow-in-the-dark lanyard closures: http://www.lighthound.com/Lanyard-Closure-ArrowHead-2-Piece--GITD--Glow-In-The-Dark-Male-End--Glow-Pull-Cord-Ends--Glow-Pulls_p_740.html

I went here for some firesteels: http://firesteel.com/

I got a bug-out bag at LA Gear (Black Friday sale) w/c is similar to the one being sold at CountyComm.

I got my Spec Ops Recon Rucksak and Specs Ops Navigator sheath on sale from EM Gear.

Fixed blades from RAT Cutlery, SAKs from Victorinox and multitools from Leatherman.

If I were starting from scratch I'd go with a Rat kit and suppliment it with stuff off bepreparedtosurvive.com and www.endtimesreport.com/survival_shop.html both ship to the UK too which was a massive bonus for me - countycomm do not :(

Eventually I want to get a RAT Kit (that comes with a RC-6). For now I am still trying to lower my total at the "be prepared" site. They have lots of stuff to make little kits out of.

Good thread and great responses. Man, ask a survival question around here and it gets jumped on and answered pretty fast!

Their shipping is really reasonable. When I order from them it has to ship across the enire country and it's always the same amount as anywhere else I have shopped.

Thanks for all the links guys! I am putting together a couple kits. I finished my order last night -too much stuff to list!

This is what I love about this forum, everyone is here to help as best they can.
I am really learning a lot from everyone here too!

So what do you guys prefer to use as water containers? Plastic Nalgene bottles or stainless steel? I saw a vid on YT showing how the stainless steel containers can be used to boil water/cook, but if you pack in a stainless steel cup does it really matter? Seeings how the plastic Nalgene bottles are tough stuff I was thinking about just sticking with one of those when I eventually start to build up my kit.
