I thought of a few ideas that I could get your opinions on for storing in your own handmade kits.
Do you have any ideas to add?

The first was the photon light made with the basic components being the ultra bright led and the battery.

Next is the needle and thread department. I found a juice box straw about 2 inches long with a notch out of both ends and the thread wrapped lengthways and the needles storred inside was easier to store. Also you got the straw. Helps to flatten it a little.

The fishing line is next. I cut a piece of thin cardboard the same shape as the container and then cut slots al the way round the edge at about 1/2 inch intervals. Fold every second flap a little in and every other one a little out. You now have a reel. A bit of sticky tape helps keep the ends in place. You can even use your knot guide as the card or even the instructions or invintory.

Straws with the ends sealed off with wax or a hotmelt plug act as great storage containers.

I have drilled a couple of lengthways holes in my camp knife handle to store flint, magnetised needle, cotton and dental floss. Even crystals stored in a straw.

Hey theres heaps more. Just a few to start. Should I continue?

The Equipped to Survive forum can give you many excellent ideas for a kit, and the website homepage is very informative too.

Just my two cents...:D

Dude, no offence, but you have got too much time on your hands. Good idea too use straws.....

OK now I have spent all weekend thinking about straws, Cutting them into bits that fit into Film canisters.... I even started grinding pain killers into powder and putting the powder into straws....they take up less room, its just sealing the ends.. Heat/wax/tape. How about Fish hooks I normaly Square off a cork with a razor and wrap the line over the top of the hooks after they are in the cork.????
