Kitchen Knife Cleanup

Got tired of dishwasher edges so I broke out the diamond stones and saw for nice new edges and a new home. Made the magnetic board from tree trimmings and junk drawer junk. Nothing fancy--just some useful craft. Total cost $0.

Feel free to share any repurposed ideas or cleaned-up knives. I love bargains and the stuff we already own is usually the cheapest.

Hope you enjoy and thank you.

Lol, yeah I tested with a chef’s knife and it’s not safe. Had to repurpose my repurposed—now it’s housing more benign kitchen tools.

Back to the drawing board. I have to do some real building soon so I might just make a block with the scraps.

Pretty dang cool. I like it!

So as most know, I make knives and elk is one of my favorite handle materials.

I trade for it with local cowboys. They'll bring me sheds that they find while working:

Recently repurposed some of my handle material stash for other purposes. Made these hat racks and bridle racks:

Did cost me some knife handles for sure!

Are we all just gonna ignore that AMAZING front door?? LOL. I was already thoroughly impressed with the pics, but when I saw that door....whoa. I'm in love. That's just sexy.

Also, your knives are beautiful. You have serious talent. The fit and finish is exceptional.

Thank you for the kind words. When we first came to look at this house ten years ago, we pulled into the drive with the real estate agent. Where you park is around from the front so we hadn't seen the doors yet. Walked around the corner and saw the doors and took a step back "Whoa, might be home". She opened up the doors and we stepped in and saw the antler chandelier above the doors on the inside and said: "we're home." And it was so. Cool thing is they open up all the way flat to the inside, makes it easy to haul in large furniture etc. Plenty of room on the front courtyard for Blackstone ing:

Can practice your roping while doing so:

Should be apple season out there now Dave? Spent a fair amount of time in your neighborhood back 30-40 years ago. Nice spread.

Thanks! Yes sir it is. Not a lot of orchards left though these days. Houses.

More repurpose. I know a guy that builds custom rifles. His prices start at 5 figures and reach 6 quickly. Traded him out of several boxes of cut offs from when he makes the stocks for his rifles. Guy don't use 2x4s from the Depot thats for sure:
