I deliberately waited for the 'new-ness' to wear off so I could offer an unbiased review, but after 6 months I'm still totally excited! Maker Steve Sando created a set of 4 kitchen knives for me:

Blades are S30V. Handles are hand selected two-tone Amboyna burl with a single mosaic pin. Sizes are 4" paring (hollow ground and tapered tang!), 5" utility with 'speed holes', 6" utility and 8" carving (convex ground).
As you can see, after 6 months of daily use, they still look like new, and I have yet to sharpen one. IMO, S30V is great in the kitchen.
Sando is a great guy to work with. I gave him my specifications and he came back with numerous ideas for improvement. He also showed me pictures of what the completed knives would look like, and they were quite accurate. Email conversations ensured that both of our heads stayed focussed on the project.
I can't recommend Steve highly enough... my picture really does not do justice to his attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Thanks for letting me crow about this great set of knives.
