Kitchen set I made for my wife for Christmas.

I haven't purchased blanks in many years, but knew I wouldn't have the time to profile, grind, sand, etc. a complete set from scratch. The reason I wouldn't have the time, is because I travel a lot and I have time for about 10 to 15 knives per year total. This is a 10 piece set, so I opted to purchase the blanks from Jantz in AUS-8 and handle them as well as make the butcher block for her. She's extremely pleased!

Handles are curly purpleheart with three pins (two brass and one mosaic). The butcher block is hickory and curly purpleheart. For a few weeks this fall I turned back the clock to knife handle assembler. But, since it allowed me to give her the kitchen set she's been asking for since we got married, I'm pretty pleased with them.

Let me know what you think.

my wife would be stoked to have a kit like that too.
Nice job, Scott. Treatin' yer lady right:thumbup::cool:

Nice work Scott-I really like the purpleheart/hickory combination:thumbup:

Thanks. I had a bunch of hickory left over from the making of my shop cabinets. Here's how they turned out. I have a whole shop full of these cabinets. I tried to select the wood for the cabinets so that I had the knots and holes showing. I still have tons of the hickory and purpleheart left.
