I have used my Mora as a steak knife more than once.

What about a set of Mora's ?

I have a couple of opinel paring knives - they're great.
I used to have more - but the rest were given away to folks who couldn't believe how nice they were.

Opinel paring knives are great, I've been using them for a few years. Victorinox knives are good as well. Both brands are quite affordable, too.

i am leaning towards th eopinels but what mora's would u recommend.....one of the considerations is they have to fit in the small steak knife part of a knife block....ryan

I have the Opinel paring knife, "Office knife" they call it. Very good slicer and yes it would work well for steaks. Perhaps they don't feel luxurious enough when you've go guests coming, since it's quite obvious when you hold them that they are not designed for fine dining. FYI Opinel makes attractive real steak knives which are sold per 6, price depends on the handle material but it's never cheap.

The fixed blade Opinel table knives. Lovely.
