I just found this most interesting forum, though I've been interested in knife making for some time. Finally have the time to try my hand. Can anyone recommend a kit with finished blade, pins, scales and other items for the beginner? Thanks, Frank W.

welcome to the addiction. try Jantz or Texas Knifemaker Supply, both have some nice kits to get you seriously hooked and then will continue to sell you various needed supplies to feed your habit. Kev

Hang around in the "Shoptalk..Bladesmiths questions and answers" threads. You'll learn tons about this wonderful habit. Also, read all of the stickies at the top for "newbies". They are a wealth of information on how to make knives.

There is NO better online source for kit knife information, parts and finished examples than www.knifekits.com.

Ryan Bailey (Darrel Ralph's stepson) is in charge of customer service, and is doing a great job in promotion and helping beginners.

A perfect choice as a stepping stone to creating handmade knives, or an end in itself. Look no further than my own website for folder examples.

I wish you many fun hours spent!
