I just got a Kiwi with carbon fiber inlay. The knife is just what I wanted, but I wonder how durable the carbon fiber is on this model. The knife came with a pocket sheath, but can it handle contact with keys without getting messed up - if not in the sheath?

The knife takes up much more space in my pocket if in a sheath.

CF is an amazingly tough material. The Stainless Steel will get scratched and dinged before you see any marks on the CF.

Carbon fiber, especially with a matte finish, is one of the most damage resistant materials around. The sheath is primarily to protect the bolsters. If you just toss your knife in a pocket with keys you WILL scratch and ding the bolsters, but unless you carry a file or a diamond on your key ring, the carbon fiber scales should survive just fine.

I carry a Kiwi all the time without a sheath, but I carry it, by itself, in my watch pocket.

Just picked up a CF Kiwi and that's how I expect I will carry it. Great little knife, fits my hand perfectly. Can't believe that I haven't owned one before now.

The Kiwi is really nicer in the hand than in pictures. I wish that there were other Spyderco models without clips - I am thinking of the Kopa. I can't see a clip (or hole) on a knife that small. They are clearly the size for pocket carry.
The Kiwi is perfect as a user for lots of chores....it would make a great marking knife for woodworking and perfect for anything that a small wharncliff blade can do.
