I see that you can pre-order this one already! Anyone have an ETA on it's arrival? I am poised and ready to buy this sweet knife. While I liked all of the others, this one beats them all. Nice larger size, FFG blade, lockback, wire clip, no hump, ambi, wharnie .... and the list of great features just keep coming. I will have to buy two, just as a spare. I haven't been this excited about a spydie since the bushcraft!

Sal - when will these be out? My wife wants to get me a Christmas present. :)

What's the appeal of the kiwi? Honest question here.

It combines the old lockback style with the new ergos and has a better clip than the old ones. In fact, I can't even remember what clip (if any) the old models had. Some other expert can probably tell you.

Can't speak for the new ones, but the original locking Kiwis appealed to people who were looking for a modern take on the classic gentleman's pocket knife. It combined "old school" bolster and scale construction and a gently rounded (rather than flat slab) handle, with an excellent midlock mechanism and the Spyderhole's ease of opening.

Spyderco, thankfully, elected not to deface the original Kiwis with clips.

I wanted one too until I realized that the scales are pinned. Would've been a great knife to mod.
