I just received a numbered Kiwi from Beck's Cutlery. I really like the knife. Quirky, but fun. Very nice fit- but I don't know if I can say that about finish, or is it vice versa?

My gripes- the lock up is not as tight as I've come to expect from Spyderco, with slight wiggle in both directions. The blade is not perfectly centered when closed. And it is not particularly sharp, which I would really expect from a Spyderco- especially one with a wharncliffe blade.

Sal- is this something that could be tuned up? As I said, I really love the concept of the knife. I just wish it could be a little more... well... perfect.

All the Kiwis I've seen so far have had impeccable fit and finish. Yours doesn't sound right. Give us a call and we'll get the knife back in:

Hmmm, I've been thinking about getting one of those myself. Is Beck's the only place that stocks them at this time? Also, what is a good price for one?

Tom, sounds like you got the knife I snoozed on - guess that was a good thing in this case!

For anybody else interested in a Kiwi, a little birdie at New Graham just told me they received their shipment today. They've already sold two :) :p :) so you better hurry!

I checked a representative 'few' of the Kiwi's...
blade straight...lock-up excellent in both directions. VG-10 steel shaving sharp..WOW! Spyderco excellence and leading edge design with a touch of tradition. Bulls-eye! md
 
Would someone post a pic of the Kiwi closed? curious as to where the tang/lock portion fits in with the cutouts of the handle...

Of course I guess I could wait until Tuesday when mine arrives...:D
but if someone has one and can scan or take a quick pic that'd be great!

That helps greatly! Glad to see the sharp end of the lock bar area is protected by the guard area of the handle, Nicely done Sal!

Liking the looks of that more and more!

I received my Kiwi a few days ago and I love it! Fit and finish are are superb. The design is very well thought out and very attractive. Everyone I've shown it to, wants one. Kudos to Spyderco for an very unique and excellent knife.:D .....can you tell I really like the Kiwi.
