Kiwi- slicing/cutting ability?

I'm drawn to the little Kiwi, mainly for the looks. I'm wondering though how well the blade performs in EDC compared to a full flat grind leaf blade of say a Caly 3 or Kopa. Obviously it doesn't have the belly and the high flat grind. I'm looking for another small edc blade, must be non-threatening/non-tactical in appearance, be an excellent slicer and opener of packaging, lazer through cardboard etc. The three knives i've mentioned are on my shortlist at the moment, i would like it to be a Spyderco. Haven't owned a Spyderco in years, although i have a Stretch CF in the mail.

I've been using a fallkniven TK3 in this role and it just lazers through pretty much anything, scalpel sharp, looking for other small edc blades with that kind of performance.

I'm probably the Kiwi's biggest fan and, IMO, the thinner blade and relatively deep hollow grind make it a very respectable slicer when compared the knives you mention. One of them has been my dedicated "coffee table knife" for over six years and opens my mail, small packages and DVDs. That said, out of the box, I don't think Spyderco has ever made a knife that out slices the FRN Calypso Jr.

I'm probably the Kiwi's biggest fan.....

No kidding! Stunning collection there.

I think i will get a Kiwi, i really dig the shape. I'll probably end up with a Caly 3 at some point too, in all honesty that's probably the more practical/versatile choice and clearly a great knife but the Kiwi has the want factor for me at the moment. What can you do.

Cheers, Dave.
