I picked the sub$70 drop bear off Amazon with the carbon fiber scales just to try the crossbar lock since I never had one. I noticed when open or closed the cross bar can wiggle a bit. The blade has no movement at all when open. I don’t know if this is common with crossbars or something to worry about.

I don't have the Drop Bear but I have a wheelbarrow load of cross locks .
I just went and tested a cross section of them from cheepy $20 knock offs / Ganzos to $300 Benchmades and they ALL have about the same amount of what I am imagining to be the way you are wiggling the cross bar ; alternating each end in opposite directions along the longitudinal axis / long axis of the handle . . .
yes some movement / not solidly locked in place .

I have never had a single issue with this sort of movement (if I am understanding what you refer to ).
I love cross locks and carry one particular one as back up EVERY work DAY along with occasional second ones as the day's primary user .
Some of the later ones I have bought come with "spare" springs and some are stronger spring rate than the springs in the knife from the factory . Maybe swap out to see if that feels better. Also some knives have more than one hole or notch to hook one end of each spring into to make the spring rate more or less as desired .

PS: I just now received my Kizer "Uti Bear 1" (green micarta with blade fixing screws) (Anzo V3619JM1).

It came with spare / stronger springs .
The lock feels great out of the box ; when open some wiggle but no more than one of my $$ benchmades .
This is a pretty cool folding box knife . High point is it has TWO screws that hold the blade down rock solid .
Comes with spare large flange Torx screws just for the blade . Has the multi position spring adjust holes on the liners .

Just when I had bought my last box knife ! They are diabolical in knowing what I would again pry my wallet open for .

Thanks for the feedback. The Kizer lock is very well done, I’ve been pleased. I might try the additional springs which are stronger and see how it feels
