so all ive read on kizer knives seem to be good things so i really wanted to give them a try. for my bday my gf got me the Ki401B3 and man it did look like a sweet knife. couple things i didnt like though was it wasnt smooth one bit. you had to put some serious wrist action in trying to use the flipper to get it to lock open. it also felt very gritty like there was sand in there. i worked it for a bit trying to get it to smooth out some and i did get smoother but not like the videos ive seen online. also the lock was very sticky and would make a terrible popping and crackling sound when unlocking. i had to make a conscious effort to make sure i wasnt touching the blade at all while pushing the lock open. the thing that really did it in for me was when opened and locked i could put my thumb on the frame opposite of the lock and push the back of the blade like i was going to close it and the lock bar would shift from about 50% lock up to 25%. that was to much for me so my gf called the company she got it from and asked for an exchange. now i got another knife ive always wanted on its way. a digi handle satin blade para 2. i dont think it will kick my gen 3 0550 from my pocket but we'll see. this wasnt intended to bash on kizer at all either. its just all ive read are great things about them but i was disappointed with that particular knife. it was a beautiful knife, but i do prefer function and reliability over anything else. i more than likely will give them another shot down the road with a diff model. i would like to see a steel insert on the titanium frame locks also.

You must have gotten a cheap American made fake. In future make sure you get genuine China made. :D

One thing Kizer is notorious for is their knives having to be cleaned up when new. Mine was slightly smoothish, but when I took it apart, cleaned everything off, and polished the washers it was smooth as a custom. It does suck, but it is only a few moments work to make a fantastic knife hit its true potential.

I would prefer the digi para all day long and I think things happen for a reason .
Enjoy your new spyderco!

lol, what does that mean? What customs??? There's customs that are silly smooth, and there's others that completely suck.

I do agree they need to be cleaned out though...

I had the Kizer Ki340A43 for a brief time (agreed not the same on you mentioned here) - granted I didn't cut anything with it, but it seemed like a well constructed knife.
