way to go kizer , looks like you guys have really stepped up to bring news , previews , and future project alerts to us here on the forum. so thank you for that. i see you guys also got a look at the new packaging for the higher end knives from kizer.today i wanted to bring you a review and picture preview of the new packaging as well as the new kizer compadre ki5465a2 from the great collaboration deal that kizer made with the awesome matt cucchiara. i told you to look for many of his designs to start coming down the line from kizer's lineup of higher end titanium frame-lock flippers. each one seems to out do the other in quality and design. kizer has really , seriously gone to the bank on these new collaboration projects. these knives are coming very close to a mid-tech look ,and quality. so excited to see what the future holds for this company.
ok , first the packaging , you have already seen a lot of it , but far as a review it is great. a real step-up for kizer as they begin to step up the quality of their knives. we shouldn't expect anything less than elegant delivery of a quality made blade. the outer box is a nice smooth , thick cardboard box with a simple logo on it. their logo of course, inside is a double top box made of the high end fiber card material with their silver embossed logo. the double top protects the inner box holding the very nice, camo,rip-stop, zipper case with the kizer logo stitched on the outside and several small pockets inside of it with your new high end kizer knife in a thick poly-plastic sleeve inside the zipper case. it is a big nice zipper that is easy to find , and is not flimsy , also inside the box is the kizer paper work ,and the kizer micro-fiber towel. the total package is very nice and well worth the money you paid. to me this move continues to show me that kizer is watching ,and listening to what we want, and what we deserve for our money. simply put kizer continues to do the work ,and progress , rather than sitting back phoning it in. they care about making the customer and their designers happy with the finished product that is going out.
now the knife itself , ki5465a2 kizer compadre , original design the great matt cucchiara. kizer continues to bring his knives to us from production in mid-tech quality. the blade is a big belly recurve , very thick stock s35vn stonewash , hollow grind , with nice over-top swedge. it is a beautiful blade that will slice all day long. the thickness of the blade stock shocked me. i mean kizer has put out some nice blades , but this one is like wow when you roll it over and take a look at it.........the handle scales are a polished smooth titanium with a dark green flames on the front scale that look gorgeous. the back scale is the polished titanium frame-lock with stainless steel insert and hidden over-travel for protection. very ergonomic with a nice front finger groove. it has a slanted tail closing at an angle that is very comfortable in hand. double tail-end, stand-off ,open frame design that makes it easy to maintain , and a sleek beauty......the detent is great on this big blade , and flips so smooth with kizer's ceramic captured bearing pivot. locks up solid with the steel insert and closes to a perfectly centered blade. it is one big blade, sleek beauty of a knife that will slice air into.....lol
please be kind , i'm sure i missed some things , but just wanted to bring you guys this to help give you a good preview of a great knife from a great company doing amazing things to bring us great knives at an even better price.
