I'm looking forward to hearing from kizer news often! :) And thanks for posting specs with the knives.

You had my attention with your opening batch of products, you are getting the bugs worked out by offering customer service state side, now showing us what's in the pipe line, you guys are evil! Now get some of these to market really what to try some of these out.

Me too. The first time I became aware of Kizer is when your knives showed up at my local knife store. Apparently the owner saw your products at the SHOT Show and arranged to have a few shipped to him. I was impressed with your build quality right from the outset.

Boy, haven't been to my favorite knife site for a while now, found four pages of your knives with prices points from $85 to $225, didn't see this one, yet. Steels all look quality, lots of choices, almost to many. Looks like you get my knife budget for the next year!

On the Zugang handle, what is the meaning of the Chinese writing?

This is from an old inscription, literally, it means "circulated forever in ten thousand countries", the usage of the words "ten thousand" is a way of indicating "all" or "every".

Translated into more common parlance, it would go along the lines of "All you need, anytime, anywhere!", or "Don't leave home without it!".

Thank you.

In stock at BladeHQ for $188 shipped.

I would've much preferred a version without the huge writing on the presentation side.

"Zugang" is German for entry.
Coincidence?
Cool looking blade. What do the Chinese letters spell? Don't say Zugang.
:-p

See post #9 above (same as second one below):

Does the small hole near the tip of the blade have any function, or is it simply decorative?

Hi, Jens:

Zugang in German means "entry, access, permission", we took the general meaning of the Chinese characters and thought Zugang was a good fit. It also sounded cool.

Kizer.

Hi, Cyrano:

The small hole at the tip is intended as a decorative hole that can also serve other purpose if needed, i.e. hold a small lanyard.

Kizer.

Is it a coincidence that the spine being curved up towards the tip and the hole remind me of Chinese cleavers?

Get this blade design, with a simplified handle and no thumbstud :D ? would be so baller. Great quality though from kizer again !

Hi, Jens:

It's probably a convergence of ideas. The Chinese Cleaver blade has been shaped by generations of uses in all different kitchens. I've seen this in kitchens from China to US to Australia, it's safe to say the concept of a wide chopping blade is pretty useful everywhere and is fairly recognizable. We hope that our user will find the Zugang to be equally well suited for a variety of cutting tasks.
