I'm starting a thread to capture information from anyone who has performed a lockbar cutout modification to their Kizer Splinter to remove the sharp edge created when the lockbar engages. Some people had discussed the possibility of rounding the edge slightly to remove the sharp edge. I'd like to know if anyone has done that and if so, what the results were. And, of course, if you've modified your Splinter to round the edge, pictures would help a lot.

I'd also like to know if Kizer would be willing to perform the modification under warranty if folks who want it to have it done return their Splinters to Kizer.

Thanks. :)

Nothing, huh? Guess that sharp lockbar cutout isn't that big a deal after all . . .

I'd be very interested to see this. I don't know anything about tools, but I'm guessing that a rotary tool with the right bit could easily round off the sharp edge. I will investigate further!

I would probably try regular coarse sandpaper before a dremel, I'd be concerned about taking off too much material with the dremel or taking it off unevenly. I would use the dremel with finer grit abrasive to smooth out out after the sandpaper, though.

I used an emory board to sand it down just a bit. Still has an edge but no longer sharp.

Honestly the difference is so subtle its mostly invisible to the eye. But here's a pic if it helps. It's definitely not chamfered or anything. I just basically took the "edge" off and made it smooth.
