Hello!

Some time ago, in Poland we had some nice saying "Gniotsia, nie łamiotsia" / "Гнётся, не ломается" which we used to use for emphasize the strength and durability of many great products made in Soviet Union. The many of them still works, as my old good Zenit 12XP camera which I have for nearly thirty years.

The times are changing, but today I like to show you another great folder in my collection - elegant and sturdy Kizlyar Supreme Prime V2 440C Satin Carbon Fiber, the folding knife made in Russia, a modern product with the same durability like in the past.

The Prime developed by an Australian designer Julius Conrad was made by the Kizlyar Supreme company from Saint-Petersburg in Russia. It is another generation of this knife. The blade and bolsters have satin finish now and the handle is made of carbon fiber, what makes the knife very stylish. Together with its shape, size and durability the Prime is one of my best EDC companions.

The flat ground spear-point blade made of very good 440C stainless steel hardened to 60 HRC is perfectly centered. The lock is strong with no blade play after opening. One handed closing and opening are very fast and smooth thanks to the linerlock system and support of the round two sided thumb-disc screwed to the blade spine. This disc gives also a very good base for the thumb when I hold the opened knife in my hand.

The Prime knife measures 205mm after opening. 2,75 mm thick blade has a 90mm length. The cutting edge is symmetrical and was factory sharpened at a level of hair shaving. 440C sharpens easily and has very good edge retention. Nicely curved bolsters fits very well with the carbon scales and they also improves the folder strength.

The handle is flat, it has ergonomic finishing touches at the edges and gives very comfortable grip. At the end of the handle is the lanyard hole. Reversible decorative clip in a shape of an arrow has a nice look and the knife sticks only 8 mm out of the pocket with the visible elegant carbon fiber pattern.

As usual, I really enjoined your review.

How is the lock up? I own a Kizlyar Supreme Vega, which has a 2 mm thick linerlock, but does not survive a weak spin whack test. Locks very sturdy, but it is not.

Thanks. :)

I don't know if I understood corectly the term "spin whack test", but just a moment ago, after your question, I was hitting the blade spine several times on my knee and also several times but much stronger, on a wooden chair. After this test the liner lock 1,5 mm thick is still on the same position and the blade is locked very strong.

Thank you for the great review and pictures.

I have been following Kizlar Supreme for the past year or so.

I got one a few weeks ago, as a southpaw I was glad to get a Kizlyar that had a reversible clip. Had to return the first one, as the clip screws got cross-threaded at the factory and were stuck, but Cas Iberia exchanged it and the second one was fine. These are really nice "gentleman's" style folders, look great and fit and finish are slick!
