The other Klarus flashlight I picked up at Going Gear was a MI10 model. It is a small light that works on one single AAA.

The Specs are:

•Emitter: Cree XP-E R2 LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours
•Three outputs, 2 lumens(66 hours)—— 20 lumens(5.1 hour)—— 80 lumens(70 minutes)
•Battery: Single AAA (Alkaline, Ni-MH, Lithium) (Do not use Li-ion 10440 rechargeable batteries)
•Switch: Twist switch, Adjust output by rotating the flashlight head
•Lens: Toughened ultra-clear glass
•Material:Stainless steel body
•Dimensions:71.6mm (Length) x 12.7mm (Head)
•Net weight: 21g (Excluding battery)
•Waterproof to IPX-8 Standard

It is a compact light, that is surprisingly bright to run on one AAA battery. To switch the light on you tighten the head, to access the lighting modes once the light is on (starts out on low 2 lumens) turn it off and back on in less that one second and it will go into the medium mode which is 20 lumens. Repeat that step again and it will go into high which is 80 lumens.

In the box with it was a small split ring, and an extra O-ring.

Given the nature of my work and hobbies I really like the stainless steel construction which gives it a nice density and a nice solid feel. The durability of the stainless body makes me feel better about some of the applications I have in mind for a light this size.

The corrosion resistance is a big plus for me for various applications such as working in salt water/salt air environments and being worn long term against skin while worn around the neck.

And being that I live and work in a temperate rain forest the IPX-8 standard water resistance is a major plus to me.

Having been repeated thrown into creeks and the river here over the last few weeks I have no worries about a little rain hurting it.

I have been really happy with it the past few weeks, if it holds up as well as I am expecting it to at this point I'll definitely be making another trip down to Going Gear soon.

Nice one Mist! I like compact but durable stuff too.

BTW, you might have to fend-off the boys some time from your daughter. She's a cute!

Thanks man, I'm really liking it. I like having it around my neck at night at times. It lights the trail without totally killing my night vision.

Yeah...I think I make her boy friend a little nervouse at times...I figutr that's a good thing ;)

Thanks Mist. I have been looking into Klarus lately and this light has piqued my interest. I was looking at the 4Sevens Preon, which is in the same family as this little Klarus of yours.

You wouldn't happen to have a shot of this light next to a Fenix LD01 and a Maratac AAA, would you?

I'd be interested in seeing a side by side comparison. The output seems to be spaced similar to both of these lumen wise.

Wondering if this is somewhere in between size wise.

Thanks, I'm liking this one rather well.

No side beside pics, but acording to specs this one is 3mm shorter and 1mm skaller in diameter than the fenix and this one is stainless. About the same as the other but the maratac specs don't say anything about moisture resistance.

My Fenix Ld01 is stainless also but I really like the looks of this one you have. Especially that shot of it that is right above the one with your daughter.

Yeah, the Maratac has been known to die in the washing machine, according to some post I have read.

Thanks for the reply.

When you really tap out the battery -does it just get incredibly dim or at some point does it simply switch off ?

When i ran the first battery down in this one...which went quick trying to get all the shots I wanted and using it at work too...it wouldn't go above low and then later just switched off. The battery built back up enough to run it on low a while after that.

Found this little gem.....it looks very similar but has the 4sevens hidden modes in addition to similar outputs on low, medium, and high.

Interesting, very similar. I've heard Klarus had been making flashlights for other people for years before producing their own line. I'm wondering if they have been making lights for 4sevens. The hidden modes could be a plus, I like having them on the larger Klaruses I got. But in all honesty that really exceeds the uses I had in mind for the smaller light and I'm not sure I want them on the smaller light enough to pay another ten dollars for them. Maybe one for myself at some point...but I really doubt my wife and daughters would even remember they were there should a time come that they would be handy....

I was going to suggest karate. I do recall you posting a pic of them a couple of weeks ago maybe. I have 2 boys - one of whom is black belt - but if I had a daughter I would definitely turn her into a karate expert.

As for the light, thats a nice one. I do like the strobe on the Fenix L0D, however, which rides on my keys as a backup to my belt light, and would like to see it on this one. Most folks don't care about a strobe, though. The stainless looks great, though, and should not show any wear. I was a flashlight freak long before I got hooked on knives and other toys.

I bought one of the 4sevens a while ago. I got a birthday coming up and even though the dentist told me I cracked a molar, I figured one ought to get something fun for his bday other than a new crown.

I agree, I'm not sure I'd be able to view the trip to the dentist as a present...

Mist, burning the midnight oil as well I see. I like this idea of being on a keyring, this looks like it might be a little bit more sturdy than a Photon Micro-light, & it has to brighter as well. How did your night vision due with it on high? Any really drastic changes or just the normal as any flashlight would be?Great shots once again, & I notice you got the food pic in as well . . . :)
Thanks for the info, nice idea for a stocking stuffer with the holiday almost upon us.
Be safe.

My sleep schedule is so screwed up it's not funny. Happens every time Alayna gets a cold...

This one doesn't effect my night vision on hi any where near as much as the NT10 does.

With the discount, the 4sevens runs 52.44 shipped.

The Klarus would have cost me 51.24 shipped assuming going gear has no coupon code. If they do I would like to know it because in all honesty, I will probably order one from there too after the holidays.

I have three "sets" of keys and have my Fenix LD01 on one set and the Maratac AAA stainless on another set. The 4sevens is going on the third set when it gets here.

Ahh, thanks a lot, Mist. Right when I start getting back into flashlights and buy a $150 dollar one, you review my next type of purchase. Well, looks like I will have another order placed soon

Oh, and I have to agree, cute daughter.

I was looking at one that was pretty expensive, then found the Klarus lights and decided to split my purchase up and get more gear for the same money. So far I'm really happy with the decision. The MI10 and NT10 go pretty much everywhere I go right now while I'm still testing them out.

Thanks, yeah...at least she's not scary looking like her dad lol.
