Hi all, I picked up a KLEIN TOOLS knife that looks just like the BUCK 110. It says made in japan & has #44037 on the other side. A search turned up very little and my call to KLEIN has not got me an answer. Does anyone know who actually made it or what steel was used. Any info would be appreciated, thanks and have a great holiday, Andy.

I have one of those somewhere that I bought a few years ago. I remember that it has a lot of blade play and certainly wasn't the quality of a 110. I know I was surprised because Klein has such a good reputation for making quality tools. Mine wasn't new when I got it, so maybe a new one would have been better.

I don't know who made them or what the steel is, but do know that there is some good quality steel that came and comes out of Japan.

The Buck 110 is the most copied design in the world.
Lots of companies made them
Schrade
Camillus
etc.

On a separate note, I've had a couple of Klein knives (but not a 110 lookalike) and have found them to be well made.

Actually Schrade used to make some of the 110's.

Here is a pic of the knife. it does resemble a 110 a lot.

Here's my Klein. nice enough knife, EXCEPT for the thumb stud being positioned for right-handed folk, AND making the damn screw that holds the thumb stud on so tight that the screw head stripped out...Finally got it switched, but geeez.:o

I do not believe that to be a true statement.

To my knowledge all 110's were made in-house by Buck.

As has been posted, Schrade did make the LB-7, a lookalike, with "Schrade+" alloy blades, aka 440A.
