Ok, I was at a local electrical supply store a few days ago and seen this on the wall behind the counter. It's a Klein folder, Aus-8 blade, made in Japan..anyone have any experience with these? Thanks

my neighbor has one, it seems like a pretty sturdy little knife. he seems to like it, too.

Klein is an old time supplier of electrician's tools, and they've had a line of knives for a while, also. Their reputation is very good.

I carried a plain folder made by Klein, years ago.
Decent knife;lost it somewhere in Daniel Boone Nat'l Forest.

I haven't played with any of their knives, but their tools are top-notch. Wire-strippers, pliers, screwdrivers... Based on that, I'd be willing to give one of their knives a try.

I EDC the 44001. It's a perfectly serviceable knife.

The only real problem is that there's a lot of other really great knives in the same price range. Minor issues include the aluminum scales getting real slippery if you get oil on them, it's drilled for tip-up carry only, the all riveted construction, and in the closed position, you have to use the thumb stud to open the knife since there isn't enough blade exposed for you to pinch the blade and pull it open.

If none of those are deal breakers, and if there isn't anything else in the price range you like better, go for it. I really love the modified wharncliffe blade profile. It's tremendously useful.

I used a Klein Electrician's knife for almost 30 YEARS, on a DAILY basis, while working as a train mechanic.
The knife belonged to my late Grandfather, who used it while working as an electrician, since BEFORE WWII.

Yeah, I'd say it was one tough knife!

I have a couple of Klein knives: an electricians knife I carried in my tool belt back in the 70's, and a 44034 lockback. The electrician's knife is US made. The 44034 is made in Japan as is the knife you displayed. The fit and finish of the 44034 are very very good, and it locks up like a bank vault with no blade wobble of any sort.

I can't imagine Klein selling any tool that was not top notch. If you like the design, go for it.
