After a rare flee market search i found a nice old 3 bladed folder( i should have taken a picture) with Klien and USA on the blade? Looked on here but no Klien forum? Any info please as it interest me but im easily amused?

I imagine its another company making it for Klien tools?

I've owned a few Klien tools, they are great quality, but as far as the knives go I'm pretty sure they have someone make them for them.

This might get more traction in the traditional subforum.

Reporting to mod for potential move.

Klein is an electrical tool brand. Their knives are outsourced. I'd guess the particular knife you looked at was probably made by either camillus of schrade.

Their older pocket knives were nice although mostly were utility patterns aimed at tradesmen.

Their current line of knives while very serviceable are nothing special. No better than any other 20-30 $ folder you can pick up anywhere.

They at one point offered a Buck 110 style knife that was very popular at least around here. Probably had something to do with the fact you could buy them from the local electrical supply for about half of what a 110 cost. They were good knives and came with a brown leather sheath with the klein logo

The Buck 110 style of knife has a big following with electricians. I've heard several older electricians tell a joke about rebuilding an engine with a pair of linemans and a Buck 110

Klein makes excellent electrical pliers and tools......the knives?? Not so much.

Yes wasnt sure where i should post this. And Robinson1 i think you are correct as i did a little research and pretty much understand it as you stated. Pictures confim they did have a 110 like knife in their line up.

This is what I remember seeing. But if not collectable i will give it zero consideration.

My Dad still has his old Klein tools 110 style knife and sheath, its beaten and dull, but it's still sitting in his tool box. I think he said he got it when he was in high school, and he used to carry it a lot more until his leatherman became his edc. I'm actually going to visit him this week, maybe I can get a few pictures of it for here.

I will have to take a pic when I get home. But I have the 110 style Klien that's made in Japan. I hate to say it but I feel like its better made then the modern Bucks. Even the leather pouch is nicer.

No need to go to extremes. It may not be collectible or even very high quality, but a slipjoint made "back in the day" by Schrade or Cam, is going to be made of a simple carbon steel that will get sharp and cut stuff. It'll be usable. Sharpen oil and keep it in your glove box, or something as a backup knife. Heck, do a GAW in the traditionals subforum and someone who would really like that knife will get it and it'll have a whole new purpose.

Ummm... the only thing that's collectible about the knife in that particular picture is that it's mine. I posted that pic of the knife I used years ago when I worked as an electrician. It's still in my tool belt and I still use it on occasion.

Klein supplied electrician's knives for decades. Outsourced but marked "Klein". Too many to be of interest to collectors, I think.

Thanks for your comments everyone. Knarfeng that knife looks like it served you well?
And i like that Blackbird. Had one visit for an airshow and got called out to a emergency wash down due to fuel expansion. Walking under it was an honor. :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:
