KME and water stones

Ive been using the KME system now for a few years and really enjoy it. I have the deluxe system with the diamond and ceramic stones.

I always sharpen using my diamond stones, Arkansas, and then my strop. But recently I have been looking at the water stones. Not fully understanding the benefit of the water stones, would someone care to spend the time to tell me about them? Beneficial? Same exact result but different method?

I see the grit difference and I think wow, but I know that it’s a different sharpening stone to, so 10,000 may not be as high as I am believing it to be.

Just looking for some good input.

Thank you.

If your sharpening hard steels you might find some of the waterstones to be very slow cutting compared to diamond. I do. On carbon it's a piece of cake. My waterstones we're all bought for straight razors though.
