Hello

I’m about to tqke up knife sharpening. Waiting for a KME clone to be delivered. Ordered 10 Congress stones, (Moldstar, superfint) and alublanks too. Any one here that have opinions on the jig, faults?

Having seen variations on people asking about clones and knock offs I would say you might have better luck using Google to try to find answers. People on this forum tend to frown upon it and threads concerning it tend to go downhill or get side tracked pretty fast.

Took a quick glance at it and if I remember correctly there was quality control issues and I don't think it was as easy to be precise with it as a normal KME. This was years ago I read about this though so don't quote me on anything.

Truth be told I would have personally put the money towards something else of known quality. DMT Aligner, Lansky, Sharpmaker, Crock sticks (AG Russell, Lansky, etc), benchstones and guides, etc. It's a bit of a gamble going with something like this.

Tnx,

I can see why its difficult to have a more precise opinion on a clone of anything. A few days ago i knew little of sharpening. Now i’ve read a lot more. I guess there is a chance that I end up with a more precise jig. Considering building one too. I Will be testing the one I’m waiting for though. In past time, not knowing what think I know now, I’ve been trying to care for my knives with a Triangelmaker, original stones. Too many hours of that killed my interest in sharp edges almost entirely. Managed to keep my Fällkniven F1 sharp for hunting, nothing more.

Don't buy clones period. And also don't share them here. Clones are not good overall and also bad for the community and makers of legitimate products. Making money off the backs of others is wrong and supporting that business model is not tolerated.

As our fine members have stated above, we don't support clones and knockoffs on this forum. Please seek answers to questions about such items elsewhere if you need to pursue that avenue.

There are many fine alternatives from inexpensive to spendy which are authentic and are welcome to be discussed here.

'Nuff said.
