Hey everyone, I just picked up the KME lapping film kit and was woundering if you all could share some insight on how to use the films. Do you really use zero pressure? Ive seen KnifeKrazy's video on them and it seems like he puts a lot of pressure when useing them. Ive also gone through the progression and swipped downwards till the edge was smooth (I might of just had a lap of judgement, also used zero pressure) but it bit into the films causing the edge of the glass block to scratch the edge as I made it through and even bit the edge and twards the middle of the film making half the film unusable. Any and all help is very much appreciated thank you. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

No pressure at all and only down stroke in one direction, ie heal to tip.

Any major pressure will basically just wear them out. And going in the other direction will cut into the films.

I don't like them for super steels, better off using diamond strops.

Though I haven't used them, Lee valley has full sheets of Lapping films in diamond. that would be idea for Vanadium rich steels. But for the cost I think 3 diamond spray or paste on 3 different strops would be more idea.
