For you all that use the kme on your Becker's-----

I just got my kme and before I go to work I want some more info. I previously used my sharp maker and that defaults to back bevel to 15 deg (30 inclusive) and micro bevel to 20 deg (40 inclusive)

My understanding on the kme, i can set bevels between 17deg(34 incusive) to 30 deg (60 inclusive). Is that correct?

Do you set a back bevel and micro bevel? If so, what angles do you use for each bevel?

If just one bevel, what degree bevel do you set?

Not sure if you change bevels based on knife size, but I have a bk14, bk13, bk16, and bk2

Thanks so much for any info!

I have read this on the forum.

Becker Bevel Angles

BK-2 50 inclusive
BK-4 50 inclusive

BK-5 30 inclusive

BK-7 40 inclusive

BK-9 50 inclusive

BK-11 40 inclusive
BK-13 40 inclusive
BK-14 40 inclusive

BK-15 30 inclusive
BK-16 30 inclusive
BK-17 30 inclusive

I might go 30 inclusive on the BK-11, BK-13, and BK-14.

I try to simplify my life and not over-think things. I generally use a 40 inclusive on most knives, a 50 inclusive on choppers, a 30 inclusive on smaller knives, and for very small knives, sometimes less than 30 inclusive. I don't use micro bevels. This, of course, works for me and may not for anyone else. And yes the KME is adjustable from 34 to 60 inclusive on a sliding scale. So you can set your angle at any point on that scale.

Ray---- so just one bevel? Not a back bevel and micro bevel? The kme only goes down to 17 deg (34 inclusive) is my understanding.....

Correct, only one bevel. As I said, I don't need my life any more complicated than it is. Other people may find micro-bevels to be beneficial for them. Experiment. Try a micro-bevel out. Whatever works for you is best.

The world is your oyster, pick your pearl.

I pull just the one bevel. No back bevels.

But the most grand thing, its you blades and your knives, therefore, your call.

Experiment, test, and post up your thoughts.

You might come up with a new and exciting profile, that the world will enjoy.

Thanks for the feedback guys i will take your advice and experiment a bit. I have a habit of micro beveling already developed so I will stick with that for now. I did get a chance to work on my bk16 with the kme. Set a 17 deg (34 inclusive) back bevel and a 22 deg(44 inclusive)micro bevel. It is sharp as Shiite! When I was screwing around whittling a hair from my wife's brush I looked away briefly and nicked my finger! I am super impressed with the kme so far. Plan on working on the bk14 tomorrow if I have time! Here is a crappy pic of the bk16 after the work on the kme:

You gus now got me interested in the KME. The lansky just doesnt work for me.

After seeing Moose's KME, one went on my buy list, and I'm a convex guy.

I suppose, that the backbevel and microbevel together, form a crude (but very precise) convex; and would be a good way to prep a new blade for a mousepad or nailfile convex.

Have fun and strop that thing up a little every once in a while!

For me, the Lansky was OK but not great. The KME is much more precise. I built a wooden base for it and I think it is much, much better than the Lansky.

"...whittling a hair from my wife's brush..."

lol, I think I was reading a little too quickly, i read "brush" as...well you get it. I was briefly appalled at your candidness before i went back and re-read lol.
