KME question, knife moving

I've been looking at sharpeners for a long time and I'm almost ready to go with the KME. After watching a ton of videos on youtube the one thing I've noticed is on some bigger knives it looks like there is movement in the clamping system, or am I just seeing things??? The clamp is holding the knive, but it looks like the clamp can't be tightened with enough force to keep it from having a little play in it.

The KME seems to get great reviews, and I haven't seen this mentioned so maybe it's not a problem.

Biggest knife I've sharpened on the KME is a Strider SMF and there was no movement at all. I have never had any issues with the clamping system. If you place the knife in the jaws correctly it holds firmly.

Never experienced any movement if clamped properly but you can use some hockey tape or something similar to tape the top part of the blade to allow for a firmer grip.

It's not that the knife moves in the clamp itself, but the clamp is moving. As in not locking in tight where you rotate the clamp 180 degrees to do the other side. If that makes sense.

I love the KME and have never seen any movement. I've sharpened my Becker BK2 which is fairly big and quite heavy with no issues as well as several 8 in chef knives and carving knives with no issues at all.

The knob at the back of the unit (not the clamp knob) can be tightened to increase tension on the spring in front of it, to prevent the clamp from rotating. (It can be tightened to the point where it's actually difficult to rotate the knife).

Ok, thanks everyone. It's hard to tell for sure in the videos, it may have just been some movement from where the sharpener goes in the stand???

Speaking of...do you guys recommend getting the stand too? I was planning on it.

I actually just finished sharpening my BK2 which as stated before, is a big heavy knife. The adjustment knob on the back needs to be tightened more for bigger heavier knives. Had no problems with the system. Hair whitling sharp!
Just buy it, you'll regret no getting it sooner.
