Hello all. I am new to the community and hope this post is in the correct place. I was given KME knife sharpener about 1 1/2 years ago. I recently decided to take it apart to clean and noticed that the jaws were not level. I took it all apart and put it back together multiple times and could not get it to sit level. To see if it was in fact slanted, I set a large blade in the clamps and you can definitely tell it is not lever. This is the first time I noticed this issue and have sharpened well over 10 knifes. I have never dropped the sharpener nor has the case been tossed or treated rough. My question is could this be a defect in the sharpener and should I contact KME about it. Here are some pics.

I had a KME and mine never had that problem and I think they are stamped out to form them,I think what you are seeing is when it is was stamped they not have had it straight before they stamped it.

If you are getting straight even bevels I wouldn't worry about plus there is nothing you can do about it because behind that plate that holds the jaws there are 2 round rivet heads that center that plate.

If you ever need to get a lower angle on your KME and find that the stone hit's the wing nut make another spacer like the one that's on the threaded shaft and that will give you more clearance if the wing nut is farther back.

first thing would be to contact the seller or manufacturer. if your unit needs a physical fix, virtual forum posts won't cut it no pun intended

Yes, plus KME has excellent service and they will fix it if it is a problem.
