KME vs Edge Pro

I have both, and far prefer using the KME. The edgepro does produce good edges, but it's SO messy, and the knife moves too much for my liking. Between these two systems I don't feel the need to get a wicked edge; it seems like a double sided KME. Any input?

This is where I am also. The KME seems to be my go-to now. The EP comes out when there are "special" requirements that need a little tweaking. I also use the Sharpmaker often when an already great bevel just needs an edge touch.

i agree! edge pro can be messy at times, and takes time to setup properly edge angle, and keeping the knife in one spot takes time to learn!but once you get this down your good to go,just repeat what you have learned,i don't think i'll ever go back to free-handing,as the edge pro is always spot on .

Surprising to hear. I've got a KME on the way. I feel like it's the better sharpener from the research I've done. I just thought there would be more fanboys for,the edge pro because it's been around longer.

Yep, researched them all before making a decision. Decided that the KME system would meet my needs (my knives and sharpening for friends) at a reasonable price and compensate for the years of being away from hand sharpening. For me, a clamping/set angle system was imperative.

Can't be happier with the KME or the Santa Fe, New Mexico dealer I bought it from. So far, have done ~ 7 types of steel at all different angles with knives of various blade widths. Even sharpened 15 inches of an un-sharpened Wilkinson ceremonial sword.

Note that I went "all in" on the accessories: all the Gold Series stones and ceramic stones, the serrated edge file and the re-curve sharpener. Would do so again.

i was thinking about getting the "TechStudio profile K" from Russia but it cost about 100$ more than for the same setup as the KME... however its better in every single way.

if they sold it on amazon id buy it now... due to gift cards i have.

but i think im going with the KME... anyone think i should save my gift cards for something else and buy the Russian sharpener out of pocket instead? tsprof dot com
