I have scoured google for the specs on a kmg 2x72, but can't seem to find much info at all. I plan to build a clone of the kmg and need to know the specs. If someone could post a link or share some info it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Gary

Drilling all the holes square can be more of an issue if your setup is not very good. You will have to drill through 1.5" tall by 1/2" thick pieces for the tool arm. That is a long hole for a 5/16" clearance screw.

This would be really fun if you were set up properly but could be really frustrating if all you had was a sloppy Asian dill press and jobber bits. That just my opinion since the devil is in the details with this type of work.

There is a 5 part video series of a GIB WIP that could be good to watch. If you do this type of work all day long then it will be quite easy.

I wonder if i modify the plans a bit, i could just use square tubing for the tool arm, sorta like the NWGS. For me, it just may turn into a franken grinder though

I believe that 1.5" hot rolled square tubing will fit in 2" square tube with 3/16 walls. It won't fit in 1/4" wall. There might be some slop left to right and up and down with the 3/16" wall. You could have your 1.5 " steel tool arm milled to the appropriate dimensions but that is adding complexity. I'm not sure if all square tube has a proud weld seam on the interior but that changes the overall interior dimensions. You could used that to your advantage maybe and slot a groove to allow the seam to track. Again, it adds complexity and a mill although an angle grinder could create this slit if in the right hands. Most of us would just create a mess. Maybe the shop that cuts that material could do some of the longer drilling for you. In past grinder WIP threads, there have been some alignment issues that created tracking problems stemming from lack of squareness in multiple directions.

For $750, this is not a bad deal at all:

What is the cost just to have the material cut?

Has anyone taken a "GIB" grinder in a box and assembled via welding. It look to me as a project just made for welding.

Steve

I like the $750 grinder. Is that stainless?

Only trouble i have is that they don't ship to Australia.

Has anyone made the EERF? I would like to see it finished if anyone has one.
