KMG Colours?

If you are buying or building, what is your favourite colour?

What is a deal breaker?

Hammer finished or standard?

Do you make all your machines the same, or do you make them all different so you can refer to them by colour?

I like a basic grey or anything non distracting, bright or reflective.

Grey, blue, green... hammered is cool.

Anything that made me dizzy would be a deal breaker like checkerboard or fine stripes. I bet you were considering them too... :D sorry! Any plain color would be ok but I don't want any pink tools, lol.

I'm a patina'd metal kind of guy but I live in a very dry area and don't really have to worry about rust.

Yes Sam , in the old days machines were often nicely painted and decorated with gold line work. It looks really classy ! Would be nice to have all your machines the same. Have an ooh aah shop .That means when your friends see it they sa y " oooh, aaah !!"

My shop sweats, I can choose between rust and paint, or maybe a shiny steel linseed oil finish.

If i had scrap / free stainless steel I'd do a JT SS with engine turning- but I don"t and I'd rather have a "normal" finished project than another half done masterpiece

I have a couple of machines from Grizzly and their green color doesn't bother me. I got my KMG from the original owner who never used it much but he did paint it. It's a cool green color close to the Grizzly green but a few shades lighter. It looks pretty good.

If I had a sterile machine and was going to pick a color I'd probably go for a silver hammer finish.

John Deere green and yellow. I have rebuilt a couple of old woodworking machines and used these colors. I even put a John Deere sticker on an old radial arm saw. A couple of people commented that they didn't know John Deere made power tools.

Once I get all the fine tuneing done to my KMG clone it will be powder coated gunmetal grey and all wear surfaces will be gold cadnium plated. I also thought of doing gold pin stripeing to break things up a bit.

well they wouldn't do paisley and tye died for me so I guess I will have to improvise.

Pin striping?... This was what mine looked like when the paint was fresh. I'm not sure, but I think that it's still there underneath all the black grit.
