I just had to post how much I love my KMG grinder and Rob himself, is a great guy to deal with. I have to admit after 5 years of the Grizzlys it took me a bit to get used to it. The first few knives I only went up to 220 grit on the KMG and then ran back over to the old, comfortable grinders. Now I'm doing my big, flat ground Beast Bowies up to 800/1000 grit no problem, no sweat all on the KMG. Rob makes a great machine. I'm in love with it. The rotary platen is pretty sweet too. I had/have a couple odd blade style orders and the rotary platen made them a heck of alot easier to complete. Thanks again Rob, I'm looking forward to getting another one and a small wheel set-up in the future.

Couldn't agree more. Rob and his machine are first rate. He is so tickled to make changes too. A guy that enjoys customer feedback and then implements it, well that's a recipe for success.

Yep, the machine is a pleasure to use and Rob is a gentleman of the first degree. bruce

BOY!!! Are you a brown noser. :p :p
I love my KMG and like Rob. Does Tess know about the other side of you????????  :p

Dang....there ya go making me lust over the rotary platen again.....arghhh....!

Dan, you need one. Like a band saw, there are just some things you wouldn't do without a rotary platen. I keep finding new ways to use mine all the time. It's incredible, one of those things that seems so obvious when it's available you wonder how you ever lived before.

I originally wanted one for a sword order (my first). Those long bevels are going to be alot easier with it but, then I had two more customers come up with items that would make the RP greatly appreciated. Great machine that KMG, I want another one. :D

So...........are you guys saying the KMG is the KING of the belt grinders? Now, no backpedaling...........just say it like you feel it!

Mike

The KMG is a fantastic machine. I just got a variable speed set up from Rob and my life has completely changed because of it. The KMG is like a new machine now! Rob was gracious enough to walk me (the electrical dummy) though the wiring and converter settings. It was simple and just opens up a whole new thing for me. Thanks Mr Frink! :D

Variable speed KMG
(eye candy :D)

the red arrow is pointing at the VFD. This is an AC setup. Single phase 220V coming into the drive, turns it into 3-phase AC. Speed is controlled by the potentiometer on the little black box (also has on/off switch) next to the VFD.

Neat part of this setup is that I can multiply the frequency of the drive. Instead of 1725rpm at 60 Hz being my top limit, I can go up to 6900rpm at 240Hz. No, I do not go that high...it's scary enough at 5000rpm. But, I'll tell ya, 4-5000rpm for hogging is just wonderful.

The tools are there because I'm not smart enough to buy another tool arm for the KMG. I even had one in my hands at Blade...but forgot to go back and buy it.....grrr......

So, when I switch between the flat platen and the small wheel setup....gotta take it down and put it back up. I'm used to it now....but I do still regret not buying the tool bar at Blade.
