Question is 10, 12, or 14" wheel. I dont do folders yet, mostly working w/ 5/32 and 3/16 stock. And so far all flat grinding. I know other variables come into play, but what are you using? Shawn

the 10-inch wheel is pretty versatile and is perfect for doing hollows on the 5/32 and 3/16 stock. There is an official chart out there for picking the right wheel for different-sized stock, but you can get away with doing some larger blades by "rolling" the blade.

Of course, none of the wheels will flat-grind too well. :D

Michael, I've been leaning towards the 10" but I think I'd like to try doing the blades like 1 big shallow hollow, like a loveless drop point. Any suggestions? I guess it all depends on the width of the blade huh?

I think 10".

The 12 and 14 become specialized and might not be as versitile for general knfemaking and shop work.

That's just my opinion.

You can cut a pretty big swath into that blade with a 10-incher. Congrats on the soon-to-be-purchase, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the link, good info. Just have to keep converting the #'s to sae.I'll talk to Rob today and see whats up.

The Loveles Shop uses a 10 inch wheel for all of their hunters, as do I. It works in 3/32 thru 1/4 just fine. Mike ;) http://www.lovettknives.com/

Thank you Sir, I was checking out your site the other day, Phenominal work! I guess majority rules seems like a no brainer which wheel. Thanks again, Shawn

I have a 10 and a 14, I would recommend the 10". Like Rob said the 10 is the most versitile. TO me the 14" is just not as easy to use, but does serve its purpose.

I got the 8" -- good for double-edged knives. I'm already wanting the 10" and 12" and 14" and 3" and 5" and ...

I think the 10" would have been better.
