Well, after nickle and diming myself to death trying to scrape up the parts to make a good quality grinder, I ordered the KMG-10. To build a homemade quality grinder, I think that you have to have a basic knowledge of the grinders in the first place with a ready access to parts, a welder and a machine shop. At this time, I don't have any of the above items, so I broke down and gave Rob a call. Looking forward to the arrival of the FedEx truck now.

You will not be disappointed! And, unless you are running a machine shop (like Rob) you would not have been able to build anything nearly as good.

Congrats,

Johhn

Congrats!

I will beg to differ a little bit on building one yourself with minimal resources. I buid my KMG clone (which works might well) by buying a few key pieces (drive/idler wheels and platen) from Rob and did the rest with a drill press, hand taps, and files. Took a couple months of Saturdays, but it Is do-able...My only problem now is that I want to build a couple more and leave them set up one each with 10" wheel, platen, and small wheel attachment :)

Sweet! KMG-10??? I have a KMG-1 haha...old style platen and all! Ive been wanting to upgrade mine since it still has the old smaller drive axle, the platen with the left side not cut away, etc etc.....ill probably not upgrade anything and save up then get brand new one with VFD and make this old one some sort of dedicated grinder or sell it...

Post pics! I always like comparing!

I've had mine for a few months now and I love it.It's built like a tank and VERY well designed IMO.
Dont count on fedex dropping it off :jerkit: unless the drivers in your town like to work.I had to chase mine down.:D
