This is what I messed around with. I had the rough profiles ready to grind when the KMG arrived. Wired up the motor and wham........

One question. What do you guys do for heat??!!!! Way better than my ols Crafstman. I think I will be able to shorten my learning curve a little with the extra HP and attachments......

IF you dont have a KMG...get one.....

Looking good. How long did it take to grind those? faster than your other grinder? are you dunking the blades in a pale of water next to the grinder to keep them cool? how about a pic of your KMG? :D

I gound these in about 2 hrs at most. I left enough meat on these to avoid warp in HT. Then I will grind more. HEll of alot faster than the other grinder. I'll get you a picture later today.

I am dunking the blades but I dont want to stop grinding once I am on a roll then.....awwwch!

they say the serated wheels cut down on heat. you could use a pari of glove while doing your initial grind before HT. but then again thats preference. i know i can't work with gloves on, i find myself stopping to look at the blade often enough where i do't mind dipping the blade every few seconds. looks like you're doing some really nice work. keep us updated and lets see what the KMG looks like

Here the KMG.......I need more room!!!!

I wore some cloth gloves but I get scared they will get cought by the belts.

Oops...here the KMG. I have the small wheel attachment also...

did you use it to make the finger grooves in the blades? i sometimes use the white cotton gloves from harbor freight, they seem to fit snuggly on my hands, nothing loose to grab. what kind of craftsman did you use before, the 2x42"?

TErry, I used the 2x42 craftsman for a year. I like it but its way too fast and the belts are not as easy to buy as far as selection.

I cut the rough finger grooves on my HF saw then cleaned them up with the small wheel attachment. Very fast work of a tough problem for me before now. Way cool!!

You bet Greg....glad the SAR went to a good home....

EAsy money on that one...

All you do is match up the wires to the wiring diagram on the motor. Use the low voltage diagram on the motor. The leeson motor I got can be wired for 220 also.

Cut the cord where you want a "light switch" to be your on/off...then wire a plug on the end and your grinding.

I did throw the breaker a few times but that was my dumb errors....

Good deal, that grinder will do you good for a long time. You will wonder how you got along without it.
Nice web site also.

Please excuse me if i'm asking dumb questions, but do the wiring and switch come with it or did you have to purchase them seperately?
Scott

I had to get them seperatly....The stuff I needed was lying around at work and may only cost you 10 bucks or so to get. That wasnt that hard really. I could walk you through it when your ready...

day 2 and I like it!! The only thing I can think of is that I need to make a shorter platen to make a section of tight but flat belt with no hard backing. That way I can learn to free hand inside tight radi...say a simple 1/4" curve with the slack belt, but tight, portion.
