Got my Knatchet that John (JK Knives) made today and lets say I'm really impressed !
John's fit and finish just seems to get better with every knife he makes.

When John first posted pics of it many people mentioned the Tom Brown Tracker knife as if I was trying to make an improved version of that. This was not the case at all, I was just trying to come up with a tool that I could use for camping and woods bummin that would be able to do more or less any tasks I required from it.
However as people were mentioning the Tracker I thought I'd post a couple of pics comparing the two as a size guide......

The Tracker is 1/4" stock, the Knatchet 3/16".....

The front section has a rounded spine so that it does not destroy battons if you need to batton with it......

I am really impressed with the grind that John has put on this one, I told him that I wanted it convexed without a secondary bevel, check this out....

Made the customary fuzz stick and it worked real well, can't wait to give it some more testing soon !

right on Pit.. i love how that knatchet turned out.. John's work is looking really nice these days... cool design.. not too big or too small...i think it would make a great woods tool...

Merry Cristmas to you folks... :)

I bet it works great in the kitchen!

Mrs. Pit kind of looks like she's going to kick your ass there Pitdog! That really does look like a nice blade. I love the shot with the tracker. Maybe you weren't trying to improve on the tracker, but dammit, I think you did anyhow :D That convex looks peachy!

Great new knife pitdog! I bet it would be great in the kitchen as part of it's shape is similar to a meat cleaver. I have a question tho. What do you think of Ray Mears new book? I've seen him a bit on youtube and he looks like he knows his stuff.

Looks alot better than I had pictured ! Are we gonna be seeing alot more of this beast ?

Oh for sure !

Not sure I'd really call it a beast,as I said the stock is only 3/16" and John gave it a real nice gradual convexed edge so it's a real slicer not a thick edged 1/4" stock prybar type knife.

I have only had a quick flick through and read the introduction but I'm a huge Ray Mears fan so I'm sure it will be a great read !!!;)
