Hey all,

Just recently joined this forum, been reading around for a few weeks, and figured it was time to introduce myself.

I'm pretty new to the knife world, other than the obligatory old timer or two that I've been given over the years. Not sure what really triggered my interest earlier this year, but I now find this so interesting. I'm really impressed with both the level of knowledge and the level of civility on this board, and want to throw out an early "thanks" for all the good information I've seen here already in my short time.

As for my acquisitions, I started with a Kershaw Dividend, then decided I really needed an Izula. Those got me by for a while until I finished making my Izzy some handles, then I started looking for something else. Most recently I picked up a DF2 Salt PE, and am loving it. Already dyed the handles, because... well, I can't seem to leave anything alone. I'll throw some pics in some thread along the way.

Anyway, glad I found this forum, and I'm looking forward to learning more and hopefully being able to share some knowledge at some point.

Welcome to the forums! its rumored some of us members loves pics ... just saying ...

Welcome! Mind your fingers and wallet in this place. Lots of great stuff to be had here. :)

Welcome to Blade Forums, Matt!

You're off to a great start in the knife world! The Dividend is an incredible value knife and the Dragonfly is one of my all time favorite "small carry" knives.

A word of caution. This won't end well. Winter is coming. Soon you'll use the "last knife you'll ever buy" to open the packaging of your new knife. We're all enablers and addicts here.

Welcome A akaMatt !
This is a fantastic time for knife enthusiasts with a wide spectrum of knives to choose from.
Do not hope that your bank account grows, any more.

Welcome aboard I shadowed this form for years until last year I actually signed up this year paid for membership. Love this place since it feeds in to my knife envy my only regret is I don't have enough $ to buy all the pretties:(

Looks like you've passed the mental evaluation test and made it to full fledge knifenut.
Do let your bank know that you require the highest credit card limit available to max out.
Welcome to the bladeforums! Abandon hope all ye who enter here...

Thanks guys! I've been reading on here about the loss of wallet control once the addiction starts... could see that being a struggle!

Finally got a few pics to where I think I can post them. Gonna give it a shot at least.

Here's the Dividend... not a very good pic. It seems like a pretty decent knife. It was pretty sharp out of the box. I haven't really done enough with it yet to take it to the sharpening stone. I did put a small chip in the edge, because I was using it to trace around my Izula handle to get the outlines into my material (below).

Here is my Izula in action! I really like this knife a lot. I actually carried it for about 4 months and did everything with it. Soon after I got it I had to etch it and strip it (just because), and then I made some handles for it out of some corian I had laying around in the garage. With everything in place it feels extremely solid, good weight, and sits really well in my hand. It's got a decent patina started just from everyday use, and quite a few battle scars already because it's the blade I am using to figure out how to sharpen (still not very proficient, but I've got a pretty sharp edge on it now).

Finally, here is the DF2. I've only had it for a week, but already felt the need to drop it in a bottle of blue dye I had sitting around. I used Transtint dye, which seems to be not the norm (most posts refer to RIT), but I dabble in woodworking fairly often so I have a few bottles of the Transtint on hand. The first night I took it from the original yellow to a lime-y green. I liked it, but it wasn't what I really hoped for, so I dropped it in a second night for about 30 minutes. It now has a really nice darkish green with a hint of blue... really hard to capture with my camera, but this is the closest representation of the actual color that I've been able to capture so far. Love this one so far, I am starting to understand why there's so much Spyderco love. Scary sharp out of the box, and I'm starting to loosen up the flip just because I can't put it down!
