This is my first work with D2 steel. I chose D2 because I wanted to try it. I'll use it again.

Flat grind. The bolster/guard is silver soldered. The handle is of Mammoth bone, Ebony, N/S and black fiber spacers. I like this one and hope to use it on a deer this fall bow season.

Thanks Southriv for sharing pictures of your Persian's. It really helped in my layout.

EDIT: The reflections on the blade and guard may look misleading. It is the tree branches of a tree I stood under while taking the pictures.

Thats what Im talking about!!

At first I thought the guard and blade were a matching damascus but I see it is d2. Make a brother for it in damascus and put them both in a cherrywood box with satin lining and a huge price tag.

Hey, thanks. I should probably keep my mouth shut about this but -- those lines on the guard and blade is not a treatment of any kind. They are the reflections of the over hanging tree branches. I took the pictures outside under a large tree.

Roger,
That looks great. What do you think of that mammoth bone? If it is solid it polishes up like ivory .It is sure hard on bandsaw blades.
I cant wait to see your ivory handled knife.

you probalby shoulda said something rlinger, because I know I made that mistake, I just didn't wanna say anything until Bruce showed me I wasn't only one. Was trying to figure out what the heck kind of damascus that was. :)

I like it alot Chuck. It polishes up just fine and I want to get another chunck off you when I place my next ivory order. I have a couple orders for drop point hunters. I might go with the ivory on the next knife (a D'Holder or a Loveless, my choice). Its either mammoth ivory or burley maple and it can be my choice. I'm mighty tempted to go with the ivory.

Beautiful! Roger, you've come so far so fasy my head is swimming! The balance and lines of that knife really make me smile, this is what knifemaking is all about. That handle is awesome, and I really like the curves you framed the handle in, very classy. If I had more than two thumbs (and some days I do), they'd all be UP!

Great work, I always enjoy opening your new knife threads.

Roger, that's some really great work and imagination! I would be proud of those too! We are looking forward to seeing more of your work!

I knew it, I knew it. When you told me about this knife, I just knew it'd be a beaut. Total package is even better than I imagined.

Wow.

That's some serious craftsmanship.
