Hey guys. I just posted this knife over on the Kitchen sub-forum, but figured I'd drop some photos here as well. This is Knife #18. It is only my second kitchen knife, and will be going to my mom this Mother's Day. I hope that she likes it.

Steel: Differentially heat-treated 1/8" 1080 (from Kelly Cupples) Flat-Ground w/ hidden-tang

Thanks for looking.

Sweet! She'll surely love it
You're a good son Erin :)

That's really nice looking. What's the finish on the blade? My first thought was Damascus but I see it's just 1080. Your mom will love it!

Thanks all. It's not one of my more complicated knives... but it turned out very clean, so I'm happy with it. This blade is ground MUCH thinner than my previous kitchen knife, so I'm interested in getting some feedback from my mom over the next year or so.

Gary, it's just a simple mustard patina. My previous kitchen knife was a very similar design, but had a highly polished blade with hamon. After the first few days with my wife, I realized that the fancy polish/etch was a waste of time. ;) I figure that this mustard patina will be like camouflage for future stains. We'll see.
