Hey Guys,
New to the forum. I have wanted to try out some knives for quite a while. I made my first one a little over a year ago from an old Tablesaw blade. I am slowly building up the specialty tools to be able to work my own blades but that will still be a while out yet. So I decided to pull out one of these blade kits I picked up a while back and throw some scales on it for practice. I learned a lot making these and there are some obvious problems, scales slipped when gluing due to lack of pins and I don't like the shape of the scales around the ridge on top by the blade. All learning things I want to get out of the way before I start crafting my own blades.

Scales are my own casting of Pine Cones in a Urethane Resin w/ green pigment.

I shaped the scales after gluing w/ my Rigid Oscillating Spindle/Belt sander then a couple of hours hand sanding through all MM then buffed. No finish other than wax applied.

C&C appreciated to help me grow.

Looks great. You will get a better feel for handle contours after you have made a few. The only other thing I would mention is to try not to let your plunge line run off the top of the blade. It looks more professional if you blend it into the bevel before it reaches the top. Of course that is just an aesthetic observation and aesthetics are subject to taste. If you like the way it looks as is then disregard.

I'm curious what the idea is behind cutting the scales short below the jimping. I feel like I would find that less comfortable on my thumb.
