Another bushcraft. S30V with box elder scales and nickel silver. The Scandi grind is 1/3. Spine is 0.178 inch thick and tang tapers to about 0.040 inch.

Thanks for looking.

Looking good Roger! That's a hellacious grind. You're just knocking them off left and right. Keep up the inspiration! :D

Roger,

Those box elder scales are really pretty. :D

 wait a minute I thought your were not suppose too make any Scandi's better looking then the first two you made for me

;)
Beautiful blade, and my favorite grind. Keep up the great work.

Roger, that knife is beautiful! I've seen plenty of S30V and some examples of box elder, but certainly not to the degree of what you do with it. Your client that that receives the knife certainly won't want to use it, but he won't be able to resist the urge to glide that pretty puppy through something.

Man that looks good, love the burl, and looks like you nailed the grind. I can tell you from personal experiance that a Scandi type grind is the hardest for me, that's why I don't do them that often! Solid work!

Sorry for being late in thanking all you kind fellows. Too many things going on at once and this darn momma cat has really slowed movement about the house down. Like walking through a mine field.

This particular knife is not sold or made for anyone. For some reason a magazine asked if I would be interested in making a bushcraft for them to field test and do a write up if it passes. This is it. Its off to Jammie Briggs for sheath making once the fire steel I ordered for it arrives. Myakka in Florida is my customer who got me started making these. He sent me the design he wanted a knife made of and this one is similar to that. It is very similar to a knife that Ray Mears designed as the Woodlore knife.

Very nice! The wood is fantastic.

Have you done any cutting with it? If so, how do you like the grind?

Andrew,
I have been using this scandi grind for a while, man these blades can carve some serious wood, I have made several figure-four traps, Fireboards and spindles for a friction fire set. I really like this style blade. I even took it as my only knife on another survival coarse, this time to Utah. :D

I hope all is well with you.

Andrew, I usually abuse the blades I make chopping on kiln dried hardwood before delivering them. My usual cutting tests is of cardboard and whittling hardwood. The scandi's I have made so far (all of S30V) have impressed me.

Very nice Roger. As said before you hit that grind dead on, beautiful wood, they just keep getting better and better.
