Good afternoon guys... hope everyone had a great weekend. The knife shown below is what I've been working on for the past few weeks. I had originally planned to make a matching pair of these little hunters, but one of them had some issues in heat treat that blew that idea out of the water. ;) This is my first time using bog oak; this is a piece of 5460 year old wood that I picked up from Mark at Burl Source. Very cool.

Some Stats:
Length: 10-5/8"
Blade : 5-3/8" (Tip to choil)
Steel: 1095 (from Kelly Cupples)
Handle: 5460 year old bog oak (Burl Source) w/ domed 416ss pin
Fittings: 416ss with black G10 spacer

It looks more like a small fighter to me, but if you want to call it a hunter, that is your right.

It looks very, very clean and has some unique lines...I'd say that you are off to a solid start as a knifemaker.

Nice and pointy.
Love the bog oak, dark as it is it looks great w/the spacer.
Hunter or fighter works for me.
VERY nice work !

Thanks for the feedback STeven. You're probably right about the classification... I often have trouble figuring out the proper "name bucket" in which to place my knives.

I agree with STeven.
Looks like a slim fighter.
I like the clean conservative look of this knife.
Very nice!

Addendum....hard to tell from the photo for sure, but it looks like the pin is off center....you want to make sure that your pin is a centered as possible.....AND....if it doesn't have a thong hole somewhere....it's something that you might want to think about adding.

that is a good looking knife!
If you want it to be a hunter, remove the upper quillion, I figure.

Very nice! I like bog-oak. It has that same "antique" feeling as mammoth ivory. Very interesting stuff.

That is a very nice knife, whatever the "classification" is!

Kind regards,

Jos
