I remember being 7 years old playing with my cap guns, plastic knifes and bow & arrows. It was a cheap way to keep me entertained, not to mention the fun I would have playing with a stick and mud. Then I was into Bruce Lee movies and I had to have chinese stars every time we went to the flee market. Needless to say my dad had to replace some boards on our wooden fence.

My dad got me a Swiss Army Knife when I was around 10 yrs old, and I thought it was the coolest thing on earth. I even carried it in school, but don’t tell anybody. Now every time we would go to the flea market or a martial arts store, I would use my allowance money to buy pocket knives or small daggers. This went on until I discovered pretty girls so My love for steel took some time off.;)

In my college years I did a lot of partying and would always lose my Scrade and Gerber pocket knives, so I was constantly purchasing new ones. Then I got married and we had our first boy, then the second boy and instead of a college fund I bought them some Imperial fishing knives and Imperial Kamp Kings. Well I liked the fact that they were vintage knifes so I started reading more on collecting knives. Then I found these sweet little knives made by a company named Case xx. Well, I bought a few Scrolled Texas Toothpicks and Peanuts. Not a cheap vise let me tell you. Now I also various pocket knives, 2 kukri, a Gerber LMF II, Mora Knifes, Axes, folding saws, Machetes. And NOW I’ve just seen the Scrap Yard Knives and I want one. Now how am I gonna explain to my wife that I need another knife. I imagine this is what the folks in Alcoholics Anonymous must feel like. Please tell me I do not have a problem. And what excuses do you have for getting another blade?

You sound fine, at the moment! Keep a tally$$. A good rule for me is to; sell one, buy one! :)

Yeah, you're fine.

My knife background is similar to yours, I've been carrying a knife for as long as I can remember. I started carrying one everyday about 25 years ago. I've been accumulating them for about the same number of years, but picked up the pace about 6 or so years ago.

My wife doesn't care anymore, I've worn her down.

Sounds like my current stategy:thumbup:

I am going to put some up for sale on ebay to feed my habit. Cause I cant stop:eek:

Hello: My name is James and I am a Knifeaholic, I have been consumed by the beast and he keeps repeating in my ear, just one more and you can stop. I have been sober and have not purchased a knife in 24 hours.

it is as easy as this, all you have to say is this..."WOman, i am a grwon man. I am the bread winner of this house. If i wanna buy another knife then i will!" then skimper out of there really fast before she kills you, but atleast if you get away fast enough you can go and order your knife. good luck man:D

Knife-aholic...*sigh* sounds like me. The sad thing is i Have only started liking knives in probably the last year and i think i am already addicted real good. I bought a knife not long ago and i already want a delica, OHT SAK, and a small fixed blade. You could build a time machine and go before you were married. I am young therefore lack a wife to explain to. Then again i am young enough for it to also mean a lack of $ to feed the habit. It is a vicious cycle. I think i have said this in a comment before, sorry to say but you do have a problem. A very enjoyable problem.

Im more of a gun-aholic and I buy knives to dull the pain of not being able to buy a gun...lol!

i keep a few knives that cover a range of tasks, and i have found out by trial and error that seems to be about 5 to 500 knives or so, i think.

Hello. My name is Bob and I'm an unapologetic Knife-a-holic, with no interest whatsoever in reforming.

And no, I will never get rid of any of my knives. If I didn't want them I wouldn't have bought them, good or bad.

Nor will I ever acknowledge that I have "enough" knives. The steamer trunk won't hold any more, so I've created a Knife Room. And once the Knife Room is full, I'll make a bigger and better Knife Room!!

I tell my wife I'm buying mostly chinese crap with names like spyderco, benchmade, kershaw...so she knows the knives are only around $5 USD each. She even gives me money to continue my cheap addiction...

Now how to juggle the budget to get me a "cheap china made" Emerson CQC7 or Commander keeps me awake at nights...maybe the car needs to be repaired again.

adorable_harree,

I heard that sound comming from your car again.....do you hear it? You'll have to take it to the shop to get it fixed.

It's funny when guys see all my toys and say "your not married are you?"

You have a knife problem, but:
knives are cheaper than guns, cigarettes, beer, wine, liquor, wormans, speeding tickets, DUI's, dogs, cars, golf, ball games, and trips to restaurants.
