Knife (and Gun) Laws in Alaska?

I will be going to Alaska next week for my sister's wedding. I've looked up the standard state law sites, but I'd love to have more practical information on how the knife and gun laws in Alaska work in practice. I'm also wondering if Anchorage has laws of its own that are different from the state laws in either area. Can anyone help me out?

I have a concealed carry permit in Texas, which is not currently honored by Alaska. I would like to open carry if I can get away with it. That seems to be okay under the state laws, but I have seen conflicting information about open carry in Anchorage.

On the knife side, I would like to carry a REKAT Sifu in a kydex belt sheath, a large CRK Sebenza clipped inside my pocket, and an Emerson La Griffe in a neck sheath inside my shirt. Any idea how much of that is likely to get me in trouble?

Bob,
It depends on where you are in Alaska and what you're doing of course (i.e., night clubbing, hunting, hiking in the wilds)

If you're going to Anchorage, which is a modern city btw, open carry of a gun is going to draw a lot of attention--all negative I'm afraid. In other words, nobody else does it in the city except LEO's. At least I have never seen open carry....maybe someone else has. In Kodiak which is much more rural than Anchorage I have never seen it in the city.

A state trooper once told me that it is legal to carry "a ordinary pocket knife". When I showed him my Spyderco Military he told me to him, that was an ordinary pocket knife. I guess it depends up to the officer and of course what the person is doing with said ordinary pocket knife.

In the bush no one will care what you carry...Anchorage though is like any other small to medium size city in the US with all its charms and all its paranoia.

If it was me, I would just carry the 'Benza.

Have fun in Alaska's most crowded city.
